Airfix Memories

A rather disappointing exhibition at the RAF Museum at Hendon on the history of Airfix construction kits.. a few kits and some lovely artwork however so evocative I was again the 12 year boy exploring Woolworth's store in Clapham Junction to see how I could spend my 50p pocket money..

A less common hobby today of course, but in 30 years we will be celebrating the cultural impact of minecraft I'm sure..

  1. We used to stuff ours(JU88s and JU 52s) full of cotton wool soak with paraffin attach to a piece of cotton thread to undercarriage, light and fly…always shot down by Spitfires or Hurricanes of course!
